The program

In 2002, The educational program for school development was established by Eric Visser in Sao Paulo. Local churches were also developing programs, but they did not have the finances to succeed. Eric decided that Children Asking would help these churches financially until they could become self-sustaining. There are currently six church project locations that accommodate over 300 children per year.
The program is offered four days a week for two hours each day. The children attend for free and are given educational materials, and also the good news of God and attention they need from teachers.

Role of Children Asking

-Train new teachers and volunteers
-Monthly practice sessions / meetings per region;
-Monthly visits for project redirection, guidance and encouragement
-The development and dissemination of standard material;
-The development of support materials and implementation manual, guidelines for the protection of children, promotion etc.

Curriculum and Environment

The curriculum used in the program is fun and playful, but also challenging so that the children may aquire the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life. The curriculum incudes:

Language (Portuguese);
Arithmetic;
Geography
History
Educational games;
Group dynamic games;
Reading;
Creative education

In addition to these components, values and ethics are a constant role in the education. Children learn order, discipline, and good hygiene. This leads to a positive learning environment.
