A Gift That Keeps On Giving

What do you do when you see a neighbor in distress? If you help them, are you thinking about the impact of your actions? Do you give him fish to eat or just the fishing pole?

The easiest way to help others is to give them what they need most. People assume that giving fish to eat is the best option. In translation, a church that helps others will most likely give money. But there is a major problem with this. We are not solving the cultural and foundational problems by just handing them money.

Why we give

Children Asking doesn’t just hand out fish to those who are hungry, but rather the fishing pole.  We give churches financial help, a proper education program called PEDE, and guidance through the rest of the process. Once the church feels stable and secure, we encourage them to “fish by themselves” and be responsible indepdently. We have seen churches develop from our program and become self-sustaining.

How do we work?

Through your help, we guide churches through the process of “learning to fish” through prayer and financial support. By supporting a table and chair in the educational locations, you help children who sit in your desk to learn and grow in Christ. You will receive personal information on the child that is sitting in your desk, as well as contact to write them.

Becoming Independent

Once we help the churches to become self-sustaining we know God has granted us the peace to let go and move on. We develop the and encourage churches through the projects we provide and once they are sustaining we move on to help other churches that are in need. We don’t just feed them fish, we give them fishing poles to “keep on fishing.”
